What a year of not documenting my life... I thought it might be good to start with 2023. Summarising the Second Half of 2023 The end of an era finally came when Faten left for Malaysia. I felt like I lost a friend, but we still text nearly every day—just that she's not physically here. Jess came to visit in November, and we had a whole "Jess & Asma Days of Fun," filled with a lot of reminiscing and pure joy. One of my best nights was spent dancing and laughing with THG at Trev's. I played quite a bit of tennis, did a lot of walking, hung out with friends, worked on my career a bit, and became a permanent resident. I was in Malaysia throughout December and had an amazing time. I attended Hanz's wedding and that was chaotic; not the wedding itself but it was the whole situation with me trying to get to Malaysia. Here I am, sat at the park behind my flat, on the mat Q and I had bought together on our beach trip in Portugal. I wanted to leave it behind in Portugal, thinking that I wouldn't use it again but Q convinced me to fit it in my bag to bring it home. I'm glad I did. The reminder of our trip there is already making me feel a lot better. I've had good weeks lately and even this week was good until just a moment ago when I realised that all of this trying to seem put together is actually a bit tiring. So, to show up for myself and to treat myself with care, I've decided to step out of the house to take it in... under the sun, out in public where people can see me ugly crying. Does that sound depressing yet? It doesn't, right? It's probably because as you'd imagine, with the feeling of the sun on you, the breeze flowing by just cool enough to make you comfortable and with the birds chirping in the background... it's quite hard to be kept deep in your negativ...
